The Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab Active3, a new tablet with an enhanced body for use in outdoor environments such as factories and buildings. In addition to more distinctive features, such as IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, the tablet can withstand water droplets of up to 1.5 meters.
It comes with Android 10 pre-installed and the company also promises to upgrade up to 'three generations of the operating system", which basically means it will receive Android 11 and two more versions.
Just like the Galaxy Tab Active Pro launched in 2019, the new Galaxy Tab Active3 has optimizations that make it easy to use with gloves. The navigation buttons are more physical than touch-sensitive and Samsung says there are options in the settings to make the tablet usable when the person is wearing "thin work gloves". Your S Pen is also IP68 certified, so it should be water and dust resistant like the tablet itself.
According to official specifications released by Samsung, the new tablet has an 8-inch PLS TFT LCD screen with WUXGA resolution (1920 x 1200) and is equipped with a Samsung Exynos 9810 chip with eight cores.
It also carries 4GB of RAM, 64GB/128GB of storage capacity, a slot for microSD cards with a capacity of up to 1TB and a removable 5,050mAh battery with support for fast charging via USB or POGO. The tablet can also be used in battery-free mode when connected to a dedicated power source.
Cameras mounted on the Galaxy Tab Active3 tablet include a 5MP front camera and a 13MP rear camera with autofocus and flash. Samsung points out that tablet cameras are optimized for barcode scanning (provided the scanning software is installed). Tablet connectivity options include support for 4G LTE (FDD and TDD), USB Type-C (USB 3.1 Gen1) ports, POGO connectors, support for Wi-Fi 6 (Wi-Fi 802.11ax) and Live Wi-Fi.
Other features supported by this tablet include fingerprint sensors, biometric authentication support (fingerprint and facial recognition), accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, geomagnetic sensor and location service support such as GPS, Glonass, Beidou. and Galileo.
Samsung's announcement did not mention the price of the tablet, but the company confirmed that it will be available today in Europe and Asia. It will also be offered later in other regions, but no date has yet been released. The tablet is only available in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + LTE versions.
