It took a while until its official launch, but Oppo has published some images, videos and specifications for the F17 Pro, which is thought to be "the thinnest smartphone of the year" - though that's not entirely true. Regardless of the thin case, the device must be convincing with its portrait camera.

Oppo has published a promotional website for the F17 Pro, and it is clear that the company's marketing focus is primarily on the stylish device body, which is 7.48 millimeters thin and 164 grams thin. According to Oppo, this is the thinnest smartphone of the year, although it is noted in the small print that Oppo only compares such devices with its competitors in the same price range of 250,000 INR (about 285 euros).
This restriction is much needed, because for example apple iPhone SE ( about 459 euros on Amazon ) is even thinner and lighter at 7.3 millimeters and at 148 grams. As for the equipment, the smartphone wants to reassure with its six cameras, on the front there is a 16 megapixel selfie camera and ToF sensor to make depth of field calculations more convincing, on the back there is a 48 MP quad camera.
Oppo promotes many of the algorithms made possible by artificial intelligence, including "Super Night Portrait" mode and "AI Super Clear Portrait" mode, which is expected to increase the level of detail on the faces photographed. An example of an embedded photo below shows the "AI Color Portrait" mode, which features a black and white background.
Oppo F17 Pro comes with a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED display and a 30 watt VOOC fast charger. The smartphone will be presented in early September, more information about availability and prices is not yet known.
