DJI Osmo Action Manual - DJI has just released its first action camera, the Osmo Action which has an ultra-wide lens with a 145-degree field of view and an aperture of f/2.8. The camera is similar to the GoPro action Hero camera in terms of size, design, or features.
When GoPro has a HyprSmooth stabilizer system on Hero7 Black, Osmo Action has a RockSteady that is equally software-based (electronic). Both of these action cameras can also record 4K video formats at 60 fps with an active or dead stabilizer.
8x Slow-motion Video can also be made by Hero 7 Black, and Osmo Action both are anti-water, just that, DJI claims its excellence here, with a water depth of up to 11 meters, while Hero7 Black is 10 meters maximum.
Then where is the difference? The main difference lies in the front that there is a selfie screen to take pictures and record videos in Osmo Action, in addition to the main screen on the back of the device.
The second screen features are the selling value of Osmo Action compared to its competitors. The GoPro so far does not allow the user to preview the recording or take a picture from the front, such as when taking selfies or vlogging.
To activate the selfie screen in Osmo Action, just tap the back screen with two fingers or hold the screen to bring up the "Quick Switch" button. The same way is used to disable the display.
DJI also embeds 4K HDR video recording features suitable for contrasting lighting conditions. It's also a differentiator from GoPro that only offers HDR in photos and timelapse mode on Hero7 Black and Hero 6 Black. Some lens filters are also provided by DJI as an Osmo Action complement, such as ND filter, Polarizer, and underwater.
